Interlaced

Interlaced is a collaborative practice-based research project between Valdene Diprose and myself. There are five grow cycles that are occurring over nine months; the first happened in November - December 2024 and the final will take place in June - July 2025. Each cycle yields a distinct body of work. To begin each grow cycle, Valdene and I each create four small artworks that typify our practices. Once the artworks are made, we invite fungi to collaborate to complete the works. The artwork is then immersed in a growing media impregnated with fungal spawn. Over a number of weeks, the temperature and conditions are controlled. The outcomes are later photographed and exhibited. 

The findings from this project have been displayed in the following exhibitions:
